Lilah
Species: Mareep
Age: Young
Gender: Non-binary
Description:

Lilah’s most distinguishing feature, as a Mareep, is their eyes, which are often blankly open and clouded over with a grey haze. They wear a light green cardigan over their fleece, and they sometimes fiddle with the neck area of the garment when they are nervous. They exclusively walk on four legs, and have no means of balancing on two.
Lilah cannot see, or hear. As a consequence, while they can make noise, they have no way of knowing how to speak, and while they can make facial expressions, they aren’t always aware of how they appear. Because of their extreme sensory disability, they need their partner’s assistance to go out... although they can eat, sleep, and otherwise get around their home alone if necessary. They have a secret sense of humor that is very difficult to convey. Currently, their only way of communicating is through carefully encoded electric shocks.

Yonah
Species: Joltik
Age: Young
Gender: Female
Description:

It’s a little bit hard to tell, but a slight greenish tint marks Yonah as a shiny Joltik. She wears a single snug black kerchief tied neatly around her neck in the manner of Scholars Guild apprentices, and can almost constantly be seen clinging to Lilah’s thick fleece.
Yonah is a smart and kind girl who wanted to help people however she could, so she joined the Scholars guild as a medical student. However, her constant need for electricity and physical weakness limited her healing ability greatly. The solution offered was thus: she would lend assistance to a single incurable, static-generating patient (Lilah) until she became stronger. However, Yonah and Lilah quickly became good friends with a unique means of interacting with each other, so it might not be so easy for her to leave them behind.

Ability: Compound Eyes
Move 1: Thunder Wave
Move 2: Electroweb
Move 3: Light Screen
Move 4: Return

Lilah walked down the street.

They could tell it was the street because the stones felt rough and uneven under their hooves, and they could feel the rush of air from the large and small Pokémon passing by. If they thought about it, they could tell what street it was, too, from the tempo and density of the disturbances, and the time of day broadcast to them from above. The wind gently blew their wool about as they walked down the street automatically, guided by the wise commands of their friend.

Left, right, left, right, left, left, right, the tiny, electronic “voice” urged, and their legs jolted forward. Yonah hated having to do this, Lilah knew. They thought they understood. It must be really hard for anyone to control electricity well enough to pull off that kind of feat, and there must be very few people who could understand another Pokémon’s body enough to know where to send the shocks. However, Yonah was amazingly precise and unfathomably smart, and it felt nice to give up a little bit of control for a while.

Stop! the signal urged. Obediently, Lilah stopped, and sniffed about a little bit. Their sense of smell really wasn’t anything special, though.

Is someone there? they queried. A common enough query. And sure enough...

Yes.

They could feel the small vibrations against their head as Yonah unburied herself enough to be visible and began speaking. After a little while, another message came through.

It’s Gemma from the Keepers, Yonah “said”. She wants us to have dinner with her and Flam, the writer. Do you remember them?

Lilah remembered. They’d had dinners every week for about a month. Gemma was a kind person, they thought, but she was way too easy to read, even from just feeling for Yonah’s staggered and halting translations. Well... they had an idea that there might be a little bit more going on than mere pity. After all, from what Yonah had told them, Lucario are good at understanding the emotions of other Pokémon, through some other sense no one could really quantify, called “aura”. Flam hardly spoke at all around Lilah, but from what little of his rich stories had been fed to them, they could tell that he was a talented writer with a strong heart.

Tell her we will be busy, Lilah conveyed back to their friend. Tell her I’m going to visit the Algaetide.

There was a small amount of commotion as Yonah automatically translated the message, and then stumbled on her words. Something they hoped was like a giggle inadvertantly escaped Lilah’s throat. Of course, even if the two of them could even survive underwater long enough with Lilah’s senses, their electronic communication, and the fact that they have to breathe, they’d never be let into that mysterious city under the waves.

Sorry, they said. Dinner would be good. You need some practice talking I think.

Yonah indignantly stomped lightly on Lilah’s head, and they giggled again. I hope there will be good food, they continued, helpfully.

Eventually, with plans made and polite obligations settled, Gemma passed the two of them and continued on her way. Lilah continued to walk down the street with an unnatural gait, like an automaton pretending to be a Pokémon.
This is my writing app for Pokémon: Tales of Tabira. For my app, I used the second prompt to show a short scene where Lilah and Yonah interacted with one of the group's NPCs, Gemma.

I hope to have fun participating in and helping with this group!

Edit 9/22/2015: I changed the team name from Superheroes to Short Circuit. I wonder if you can guess my naming scheme? If you already know, let other people guess!
Edit 10/7/2015: Added Chapter 1 rewards!
